This course is designed to provide additional training to enable Individual Support workers with skills in the aged and home and community care sector, to include disability and therefore increase and enhance their employment opportunities. The course only covers the delivery of the four disability units. On successful completion of the four units listed, participants will gain CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability).This is a Nationally Recognised qualification under the Community Services Training Package and is an ideal pathway to gain further skills for employment in the Disability Services sectors. This qualification will provide you with the required skills to work effectively as a disability support worker in a residential group home, day respite centre, other community settings or in client’s homes.
All participants must have successfully completed CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing & Home and Community) to receive the 9 credits required of the 13 units of the Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) qualification. All participants will be required to attend a Pre-Training Review and must present their original Certificate III in Individual Support – (Ageing & Home and Community)

The disability sector has been undergoing an increase in career opportunities due to the NDIS Introduction. It is an extremely rewarding field of work and on completion of the course; you will be able to provide physical and social support to individuals in a variety of disability settings, including respite day centres, , residential group homes and within the home care settings.
Recognition of prior learning
Participants wishing to apply for RPL will need to discuss it at the Pre-Training Review with the CEO.

- CHCDIS007 Facilitate the empowerment of people with disability
To gain the qualification all units must be completed. For partial completion, a Statement of Attainment will be issued.
Nationally Recognised Training at Laurels Education and Training is delivered with funding made available by the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments.
- Attend 8 face-to-face classes
- Complete out of class work – average of 4 to 6 hours per week of self-paced learning including completion of assignments, research and assessments
- Complete 60 hours of practical placement
