This course is a Nationally Recognised qualification and is the first step in gaining the skills to work effectively as a care worker in a residential aged care facility, or as a home and community care worker.
You can access this course by direct entry but it would also be suitable for you if you have some experience and need to formalise your qualifications.
This is an exciting course delivered by experienced industry experts in a supportive and encouraging environment.
This qualification is normally delivered in the classroom however due to restrictions will be delivered online via Zoom until face to face classes can commence. In addition to online and classroom training 120 hours of practical placement in an aged care environment is required. NOTE: This course will be initially delivered online via Zoom classes until restrictions ease and face to face classes can commence. Students will be required to access Zoom via the internet. Support can be provided where this may not be possible.
Our qualified trainer will visit you on-site at your placement to observe and assess this course.

Aged care is an extremely rewarding field to work in and on completion of the course you will be able to provide physical and social support to individuals in a variety of aged care settings, including hostels, nursing homes and home and community care settings.
Recognition of prior learning
Participants wishing to apply for RPL will need to discuss it at the Pre-Training Review with the CEO.

To gain the qualification all units must be completed. For partial completion, a Statement of Attainment will be issued.
Nationally Recognised Training at Laurels Education and Training is delivered with funding made available by the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments.
- Attend all face-to-face classes and online classes
- Complete out of class work – average of 4 to 6 hours per week of self-paced learning including completion of assignments, research and assessments
- Complete 120 hours of practical placement. Students will be required to undertake a police check prior to commencing practical placement
- Have access to a digital device and internet connection to be able to participate in Zoom classes
