Attendant/Liquor Service
This is the entry certificate to work in the Aged Care sector.
The course is designed to equip students to provide physical and social
support to individuals in a variety of settings: hostels, nursing homes
and home and community care. As an entry level course it is suited to
people who wish to gain work in the field or as a pathway to further education
in aged, disability or community work.
This course is designed for people seekiing employment
in either the Residential or Home Care field, or workers who are required
to gain a nationally accredited qualification.
The following two units are offered as an introduction,
providing a pathway and an understanding of the work requirement for the
full Certificate II in Aged Care Work course in 2009.
- CHCAC3C Orientation to Aged Care work
- CHCAC15A Provide care support which is responsive to
the specific nature of dementia

This is an ideal course for men & women who are returning to study

who successfully complete this course will be offered the opportunity
of entry into the Certificate II in Business in term 2.
This course will be offered early in 2009.
The course is designed as an entry level to employment in the business
environment. Units of competency encompass skills and knowledge for effective
communication, sound teamwork, competent use of business technology, accurate
processing of financial documents and efficient information handling which
are common skills across all business roles. The course would be ideal

This course is designed to reflect the role of entry level employees providing
product and sales information to customers, selling, replenising and maintaining

The Horticulture coruse is a fun “hands-on”
course offering the opportunity to complete units from Certificate II
in Horticulture. Whether your aim is to gain skills for a career change,
enhance your work prospects or to just gain knowledge to compliment your
love of gardening - this course could suite you. Carreer opportunities
include, maintenance of private gardens, parks,
landscape construction, wholesale and retail nurseries and more. Limited

This nationally accredited certificate is designed
to meet the current and future needs of new and existing personnel participating
in vocational educationand training in Australia. This may include formal
training in a structured training environment, on the job instruction,
conducting of workplace assessments, one to one training of apprentices,
as well as coaching and mentoring of staff.
The program addresses key competency areas that represent
the primary areas of work (caled 'Fields') undertaken by training organisations.

Learn how to do minor repairs and restore one or more
items of wooden furniture. Topics include: methods of repairing, removing
old finishes, preparation and application of new finishes; including French
Polishing. The course is suitable for absolute beginners as well as more
experienced furniture restorers. Items to be restored should be small
and easily transportable. Material cost of $25 to be paid to the tutor
on the first day. (Materials include sandpaper, glue, hardware and paint

The National Food Safety Standards require
that all food businesses ensure their food handlers have the skills and
knowledge of food safety and hygiene for the work they do.

This two day course is designed specifically for the
Food Safety Supervisor. The sessions incorporate basic food hygiene principles
and their practical application in the workplace and the implementation
and maintenance of food safety standards in the workplace. Suitable for

Small Business/Office
This course provides skills in reading, writing, numeracy
and oral communication to meet personal needs and to assist people to
participate in the community, workplace and further education and training.
Classes are for adults (15+ years) who have left school early and need
to improve their literacy, basic mathematics and general education skills.
Courses are tailored to meet individual student needs. A short interview
is conducted prior to enrolment to assess student needs.

Learning is an accredited senior secondary school qualification undertaken
in years 10, 11 & 12. VCAL is based on hands-on learning and aims
to provide students with the skills, knowledge and attitudes to make
informed choices about pathways to work and further education. Interviews
will be conducted during Term 4 for students who would like to discuss
options for 2009.
