This is the entry certificate to work in the Aged Care sector.
The course is designed to equip students to provide physical and social
support to individuals in a variety of settings: hostels, nursing homes
and home and community care. As an entry level course it is suited to
people who wish to gain work in the field or as a pathway to further education
in aged, disability or community work.
This is an ideal course for men & women who are returning to study
or need to update skills to improve employment opportunities. Certificate
I in Business provides a pathway to employment and also a range of further
study options, including Certificate II in Business, Certificate II in
Information Technology and Certificate II in Retail.
The course has been redesigned for 2009 to assist
students in the development of skills innew technologies. This exciting
new component will allow students more flexibility to complete work at
home and at a time more suitable to a busy life style.

environment. Units of competency encompass skills and knowledge for effective
communication, sound teamwork, competent use of business technology, accurate
processing of financial documents and efficient information handling which

This short course offers two units from Certificate III in Business. Participants
can choose to complete either or both units depending on knowledge and
skills. The course would suit anyone needing to gain skills and knowledge
on financial record keeping in particular:
- an employee undertaking training to improve workplace skills
- small business owner
- anyone contemplating enroling for the MYOB computer accounting course
later in the year.

This 8 week course covers maintenance of accounts payable and receiveable
records, processing of payments to creditors and handling overdue acounts

Maintain a General Ledger
This 7 week course covers the preparation of a general ledger, posting
journal entries to the general ledger and preparation of a trial balance.

sales information to customers, selling, replenising and maintaining stock.

This course is designed for people seeking employment or who need to upgrade
computer nowledge and skills. A fun course covering a broad range of computer
concepts and business requriements - gain confidence in using computers,
learn "what makes them tick", learn how to analyse and fix basic

On successful completion of the course, participants will
receive a Statement of Attainment for the units from ICA20105 Certificate
II in Information Technology.

In recognition of the risks associated with construction work, a set of
minimum safety requirements specific to the construction industry have
now been created. From 1st July, 2008, all people performing construction
work will require proof that they have completed construction induction
training for the industry before commencing work.
This course is endorsed by and meets the requirements of
WorkSafe Victoria concerning induction training for the building and construction
industry. The card is issued within 60 days by WorkSafe upon successful
completion of the training.

Under the guidance of a professional craftsman, learn
how to do minor repairs and restore one or more items of wooden furniture.
Topics include: methods of repairing, removing old finishes, preparation
and application of new finishes; including French Polishing. The course

restorers. Items to be restored should be small and easily transportable.

The Horticulture coruse is a fun “hands-on”
course offering the opportunity to complete units from Certificate II
in Horticulture. Whether your aim is to gain skills for a career change,

II in Horticulture RTF20103 will be presented in a combination of classroom

VCAL AT THE LAURELS IN 2009

The Victorian Certificate of Applied
Learning is an accredited senior secondary school qualification undertaken
in years 10, 11 & 12. VCAL is based on hands-on learning and aims
to provide students with the skills, knowledge and attitudes to make
informed choices about pathways to work and further education. Interviews
will be conducted during Term 4 for students who would like to discuss
options for 2009.
